THE GROVE HOTEL

Ralph Trustees Limited run the biggest family run and owned hotel group in England. They acquired the former home of the Earls of Clarendon –The Grove. They had big ambitions for the house and estate. They wanted to create a luxury hotel with a difference -not stuffy, not dated, but something grand that would appeal to a contemporary customer.

Four IV was responsible for The Grove’s entire brand generation, expression and implementation. A huge project, which includes the golf course (host of American Express World Golf Championship 2006), to the masterful success of the hotel (AA Hotel of the Year 2004/5).

FOUR IV’s initial positioning, ‘London’s cosmopolitan country estate’, informed the project from start to finish, and was the inspiration for the naming, identity and sub-brands, and every other manifestation.

As well as The Grove’s leaf motif, FOUR IV created the identities for the golf course, spa and restaurants. FOUR IV’s work also extended into communication strategy, wayfinding and packaging. No aspect of the hotel was untouched by the brand work.

With the brand positioning focusing on the natural elements of the surroundings, this was a strong theme used throughout all the collateral and signage.
